Rebate calculator & finder
Answer six quick questions to estimate your heat pump, dual fuel and water heater rebates, then scroll down to find municipal, regional and provincial rebates for toilets, thermostats, insulation, solar, EV chargers, appliances and more across Vancouver Island.
After you see your calculator results or pick finder categories below, we show How to get these rebates steps for the programs that match — not before.
How to get these rebates
Most major heat-pump, dual-fuel and heat-pump water-heater rebates follow the same rhythm: confirm the program, hire a registered contractor and eligible equipment, finish the install with the right paperwork, then apply (or, for some income-qualified offers, let the contractor claim the rebate). Municipal toilet, rainwater and wood-smoke programs often use their own forms — use the finder on this page for your city. How-to steps checked November 5, 2026 from official Better Homes BC, BC Hydro, FortisBC, Government of Canada and Home Energy Navigator pages.
Municipal toilet, rain barrel/rainwater and wood-smoke offers usually have their own apply-yourself forms. Some need pre-approval before work. Use each program’s official link in the list above. How-to steps checked November 5, 2026.
For the programs listed above, follow each item’s Program details and rules link for the official apply steps. How-to steps checked November 5, 2026.
Usual path for major heating upgrades
- Before you book: Use the calculator on this page to see which provincial or utility path may fit your home (any-income Home Renovation Rebate, income-qualified Energy Savings Program, or FortisBC dual fuel). Check that SuperSave — a CleanBC Registered Contractor, HPCN member and FortisBC-listed dual-fuel contractor — matches the contractor type that program asks for. For the income-qualified Energy Savings Program, pre-register and get a code before work starts.
- During the job: Stick with eligible products (qualified heat-pump or dual-fuel lists). Keep a paid invoice that shows make, model and other details the program asks for. Dual-fuel jobs also need a heat-load calculation and on-site commissioning paperwork from the contractor.
- After install — when you apply: For Home Renovation Rebate / CleanBC Better Homes and FortisBC dual fuel, the homeowner (or utility account holder) usually applies online within six months of the invoice date. For Energy Savings Program, the registered contractor claims the rebate and you pay the rest. Keep copies of everything in case of a spot check.

Where the path differs
Home Renovation Rebate (Better Homes / BC Hydro / FortisBC partners)
Usually any-income for eligible electric-heated homes (and partner dual-fuel offers). Hire a licensed contractor with a GST number; heat pumps and insulation need an HPCN member. Eligible products only. Apply online after the work, within six months of the invoice. A pre-upgrade EnerGuide evaluation is not required for the basic heat-pump, dual-fuel or heat-pump water-heater rebates under the rules for invoices dated on or after October 15, 2026 — it is required if you want the separate Home Energy Improvement Bonus. Cannot be combined with Energy Savings Program or income-qualified FortisBC/CleanBC offers.

Energy Savings Program (income-qualified)
Pre-register first, get a code, then get quotes from ESP-registered contractors. After install, the contractor receives the rebate and you pay the rest. One approval covers the ESP rebates you qualify for; codes are time-limited (Better Homes says three months). Do not also claim Home Renovation Rebate for the same upgrade.
FortisBC dual fuel rebate
For replacing an aging gas (or eligible piped-propane) furnace with an eligible dual-fuel system. Contractor must be Technical Safety BC licensed, HPCN member and listed for the dual-fuel rebate on install day. Commissioning data and photos must be captured on site that day. You apply within six months with your FortisBC gas account number, heat-load calculation, commissioning sheet and paid invoice. Installs on or after October 15, 2026 follow the current dual-fuel rules.
Municipal & regional programs
Toilet, rain barrel/rainwater, wood-smoke and similar local offers usually have their own apply-yourself forms, funding caps and deadlines. Some need pre-approval before work (Victoria Rainwater Rewards is one example). We do not copy every municipal form here — use the official link on each program in the list above.
Home Energy Navigator (free help — not cash)
Free Energy Concierge support for participating Capital Region communities and for the Nanaimo / Regional District of Nanaimo area (including Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Lantzville and electoral areas). They help you plan upgrades and navigate applications; they are not a rebate payment.

Federal National Heat Pump Rebate
The online portal is expected in early 2027. If you install an eligible heat pump from November 1, 2026 onward, keep a complete HVAC contractor receipt (name/address, company, make/model/AHRI, quantity, total project cost) and apply when the portal opens — within the receipt window the federal page describes (submit receipts within six months). No federal payments until the program launches and applications are approved. Program details can still change; use the official Canada.ca page.
Insulation & EnerGuide
Insulation rebates under the Home Renovation Rebate require an HPCN member. A pre-upgrade EnerGuide evaluation is not required for the basic heat-pump, dual-fuel or heat-pump water-heater rebates under the rules for invoices dated on or after October 15, 2026 — it is required if you want the separate Home Energy Improvement Bonus. Follow the program details link on each insulation or bonus item above.
Thermostats, solar, EV chargers & appliances
These offers each have their own utility or store rules. Use the Program details and rules link on each item above rather than a one-size checklist.
What SuperSave can help with vs what you submit
SuperSave can help with
- Explaining which rebate paths may fit the quote we give you
- Installing as a CleanBC Registered Contractor and HPCN member (and FortisBC-listed for dual fuel), using eligible equipment where the program requires it
- Providing the paid invoice and, for dual fuel, the heat-load and commissioning documents the utility asks the contractor to complete
- Pointing you to the official apply links and to free Navigator / Energy Coach support where it is offered
You (or a helper) usually submit
- The Home Renovation Rebate / FortisBC dual-fuel online application (utility account numbers, invoices, supporting sheets)
- Energy Savings Program pre-registration (before work) — then the ESP contractor claims that rebate
- Municipal toilet, rainwater, wood-smoke and similar forms for your city
- The federal National Heat Pump Rebate application when that portal opens
SuperSave does not claim to file every rebate application on your behalf. If you want hands-on application coaching, Home Energy Navigator (where available) or the CleanBC Energy Coach line (1-844-881-9790) can help.
Please note: Programs change. Always follow the official page for the offer you are using. How-to steps checked November 5, 2026.
Home upgrade rebate finder
Pick your city or area, then the upgrades you're thinking about. You'll see verified municipal and regional programs for that place, plus provincial and utility rebates that apply Island-wide. Categories marked SuperSave are work we do: plumbing, heating, gas, A/C and heat pumps, water heaters, thermostats and toilets. Free support programs (such as Home Energy Navigator) are labelled separately — they are not cash rebates.
Gulf Islands are listed separately from Vancouver Island cities. Regional electoral-area choices are for properties outside municipal boundaries that may qualify for regional district programs.
